So far, Estonia didn’t have a trade union in the finance industry. Since September 11, 2013, the sector’s workers can join a sectoral union. Officially called the “Estonian Association of Financial Sector Employees” (EFL), the union is not tied to a political party and independent from them. The number of members is still low, although constantly growing, but the union is only two months old and Estonia doesn’t really have a union culture (one of the lowest rates in the EU, less than 10 percent). EFL is not yet affiliated with a union confederation. (Ref. 130701)
The employees concerned work, notably, in credit establishments, investment firms, fund managers, investment funds, insurance companies, electronic money institutions, payment institutions, regulated market securities firms, or any other legal entity operating in the finance industry.
