…EU: a new President for the Commission to get Europe to take a mini U-turn
Yesterday, July 15, the European Parliament elected Jean-Claude Juncker as President of the European Commission (422 votes for, 250 against). His presentation of his program - walking on the tightrope and making compromises with the major pro-European political groups - was resolutely aimed at promoting solidary Europe against national selfishness and in favor of balancing towards social matters. However, he warned, “The time is not right for a revolution, but the time is not right for a counter-revolution either.” Meanwhile, he is also resolutely in line with the structural reforms and budget discipline.
