In a decision of April 24, the Court of Justice of the European Communities condemned an Italian regulation which imposes on the employer the obligation to send a copy of a part-time employment contract to the administration within 30 days of signature of that contract, on penalty of a fine. The Court says this regulation is contrary to the objectives of Directive 97/81 which aims at promoting part-time work to improve equal treatment and job creation as well. (Ref. 080338)
In Luxembourg, judges were asked a prejudicial question concerning the compliance of the obligation to notify a part-time employment contract with Directive 97/81/EC concerning the framework agreement concluded by the social partners on part-time work.
