On 26 September, the European Commission announced that it had opened infringement proceedings against no fewer than 17 member states for failing to transpose the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive on time. Only France, Italy, Lithuania, Sweden, Denmark, Croatia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria are in compliance. These formal notices come with the first mandatory sustainability reports for companies with over 500 employees and turnover of €40 million due in 2025.
