Objective. At national level, the conclusions adopted yesterday, June 7th call on the Member States to invest into skills, financially or not, at all levels: businesses, individuals, young workers, older workers, the private sector, the administration, emerging sectors and traditional sectors. The Council recalls that the objective is to “promote better use of skills” and “modernize labor market institutions and training systems.” As many studies found, tomorrow’s workers will need more technical skills and will have to adjust to rapid change and evolution on the labor market. The conclusions particularly focus on “communication, maths, science and technology, ICT, learning to learn, social skills, entrepreneurship, intercultural knowledge, teamwork, flexibility and adaptation to change.”
