The temporary industry is a very challenging sector for unions because it is inherently poorly organized.  In Germany alone, only 1% of the sector’s workers belong to a trade union.  Therefore, implementing the new EWC directive is no small feat.  During a meeting in Brussels on January 28-29, union representatives from the key temporary work agencies in Europe –Adecco, Manpower, Randstad, Start People and B-Bridge – came to get information on the new recast EWC directive adopted by the EU in 2009.
