The number of people working in the EU25 grew by 0.3% (612 000 people), seasonally adjusted, in the third quarter 2006, according to provisional estimates published on December 14th 2006 and based on the national figures of Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities. (Ref. 061279)
During the same period, the number of people working in the euro zone increased by 0.4% (517 000 people). In the second quarter 2006, the growth rate reached +0.3% in the EU and +0.4% in the euro zone. Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, employment in the third quarter of 2006 rose by 1.4% in the euro zone and 1.1% in the EU 25, after rises of respectively 1.3% and 1.1% in the second quarter of 2006.
