Published on 25 October, the annual EU Commission report on the Labour Market and Wage Developments that extends beyond 200 pages re-iterated the importance of productivity in boosting wage growth. The report notes wages are rising in all the EU Member States and at higher rates in those countries with the lowest pay.
“This 2018 report shows wages are starting to rise, although persistent spare manpower capacity, weak inflation, and weak productivity growth has held back greater increases,” she explained, and called for measures to be adopted that support flexible skilled manpower use as well as innovative working practices.
