EU: European Summit on Economy and Employment for February 11

Signals in the red. Last week, Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, convened a European summit on economy and employment. During this meeting, to be held on February 11, the heads of State and government of the Twenty-Seven will work on the ways to exit the crisis and on the EU’s strategy for 2020. All signs are in the ready this early year. Eurostat, the European statistics agency, announced, today Monday, that unemployment reached 10% in the EU in November. The Baltic countries, Ireland and Spain are the most affected, where youth unemployment has soared over the past few months. Meanwhile, Greece and Portugal were pointed at for badly managing their public deficit.
