On Tuesday 26 April, the ETUC presented twenty quality standards for apprenticeships in Europe. This initiative presented by the union confederation in conjunction with Unionlearn (the education department of the Trades Union Congress, TUC) aims to fine-tune work already underway by the European Commission in this area.
A priority for the social partners. The social partners are trying to promote occupational training and especially apprenticeships. In 2013 they included the issue into their 2015-2017-work program with the unions particularly focusing their efforts on quality and the employers on cost-efficiency. The results of their efforts will be presented during a joint union-employers conference on 27 May.
