EU: launch of the European Alliance for Apprenticeship

The European Alliance for Apprenticeship, which aims to improve the quality and supply of apprenticeships, spreading the most successful apprenticeship schemes in all the Member States.  It was launched in Leipzig on July 2 before different stakeholders from the business world, government and youth representatives.  This measure is part of the larger “Youth Guarantee” program, which the EU leaders approved in December 2012.  While youth unemployment is soaring in Europe, apprenticeship and dual training systems are increasingly considered as an effective way of bringing the youngest closer to the labor market by developing their skills.  In this respect, the Alliance should facilitate their transition from school to the world of work.  (Ref.  130446)
