The right to disconnect does not prevent workers from being contacted outside working hours and responding to requests. These are the findings of a Eurofound survey of employees in the European Union, supplemented by interviews with HR managers in four countries (Belgium, France, Italy and Spain).
The report published on 30 November by Eurofound, the EU agency for the improvement of working conditions, shows that more than 80% of workers surveyed say they get contacted outside working hours, particularly by colleagues (nearly three quarters of respondents). One in four admits meanwhile to answering all calls and messages received.
