EU: political agreement on the draft directive on parental leave

Council of Ministers for Employment and Social Affairs signed a political agreement on the draft directive on parental leave, based on the agreement signed by the European social partners in June. The draft still needs to be officially ratified – most likely easily – in early 2010. During that same meeting, the European Ministers also adopted a political agreement on the draft directive on the equal treatment of men and women who are self-employed. (Ref. 091092)
