EU: report on the situation in the European food industry

The European social partners in the food industry (EFFAT for employees and FoodDrinkEurope for employers) presented, in early November, a major report overviewing economic and staffing structuring and proposing working tracks to develop policies within the sector’s European social dialogue committee.  (Ref.  130755)

The food industry is the largest sector in the EU with 4.2 million workers, over 300,000 businesses and sales amounting to nearly €1,000 billion. The sector’s European social partners presented, early in November, a report entitled “Ensuring Sustainable Employment and Competitiveness in the EU Food and Drink Industry,” which provides a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the attractiveness, workforce and economic structure of the sector.
