After denouncing the fact that it was not consulted before the introduction of the new strategy on health and security at work, adopted on February 21 by the European Commission (see our story n°07170) the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) severely criticized its content. For them, it is "the poorest strategy in terms of concrete initiatives proposed since 1978". (Ref. 070189)
The ETUC first criticized the Commission’s focusing on work accidents which “form only a limited part of the health problems caused by work”. It “regrets that work-related illnesses do not appear in the communication”.
