The European Commission presented, on October 23, two draft directive to solve the workforce shortage in the EU. The first one introduces the "European blue card" and is aimed at improving and simplifying procedures allowing highly-skilled workers from third countries access European labour markets more easily. The second one aims at harmonizing and symplifying procedures applicable to all possible migrants and to guarantee "a common set of rights" to third country citizens, including those already legally living in the EU.
