EU: the European Parliament adopted the recast EWC directive

The way is now paved for a permanent adoption of the recast EWC directive during the Council of Social Ministers on December 17. Indeed, the European Parliament adopted the text developed by the trialogue (see our dispatch No. 080979) today. Although MEPs hardly criticized the content of the text, they nonetheless objected to the method of the French presidency of the EU which, by closely involving the European social partners to the compromise, limited the Parliament's rights.
