The conference organized on May 26-27 finally ended the long process jointly launched in 1996 by the Hotrec, the sector’s European employers’ organization and the Effat, its union counterpart, in Brussels, for the creation of a skills passport for the sector’s workers. Observing that the latter move a lot across Europe, without necessarily having skills recognized by a degree, the social partners wanted to create a tool giving more visibility to their qualifications and experiences.
