The social partners of the metal sector - CEEMET for employers and EMF for unions - sent an official request to the European Commission for the creation of a sectoral social dialogue committee. The Commission is currently analyzing the representativeness of the two organizations in the EU27. This step is a prerequisite for the establishment of organized social dialogue. (Ref. 090469)
Discussions between the Council of European Employers of the Metal, Engineering and Technology-Based Industries (CEEMET) and the European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) have been going on for a while. As early as 2000, they started with education and training and then focused on skills shortage.
