The social partners of the metal sector - CEEMET for employers and EMF for unions - sent an official request to the European Commission for the creation of a sectoral social dialogue committee. The Commission is currently analyzing the representativeness of the two organizations in the EU27. This step is a prerequisite for the establishment of organized social dialogue. (Ref. 090469)

Discussions between the Council of European Employers of the Metal, Engineering and Technology-Based Industries (CEEMET) and the European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) have been going on for a while. As early as 2000, they started with education and training and then focused on skills shortage. The theme of anticipating skills needs, already looked at by the joint work group established by the two organizations, should naturally be one of the major focuses of the future sectoral social dialogu
