With three months to go before the 2019 European elections, the ETUC is calling for ‘A fairer Europe for workers’. On 26 February, after getting the green light from its 90 national organizations, the trade union confederation published its election program. The national bodies are ringing alarm bells over a climate of extremism that is threatening democracy and European values.
Whereas in 2014 the ETUC emphasized alternatives to austerity measures as a means for exiting the financial and economic crisis, this time round the confederation is underlining the need to tackle extremism.
