The European Commission published, on July 6, the result of a public opinion poll cconducted twice a year before 29000 Europeans (questioned in April). Unemployment remains their first concern, and they are reluctant to welcoming new Member States. (Réf. 06700)
This public opinion poll available on line (see link below)underlines three important points:
- The first concern of Europeans remains, by far, unemployment (49 %, + 5 % compared to autumn 2005), now followed by criminality (24%, no change), the economic situation (23 %, -3 %) and the health care system (18%, +3 %).
- The support for the idea of an EU Constitution slightly dropped since last autumn (61 %, -2 %). 22 % of citizens are opposed to the idea of a Constitution and 17 % are undecided. W
