Just before the end of 2015 both the Italian and French agri-food groups (Ferrero and Avril respectively) renewed their European works council (EWC) agreements. Both agreements were negotiated with assistance from the sector’s European union federation (EFFAT the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions). The federation’s involvement is why we are publishing one article covering both EWCs as an interesting angle for actors in the agri-food sector, those covered by EFFAT as well as others.
Avril. On 14 December 2015 the French producer of oils and vegetal proteins (including brands; Lesieur, Puget, etc.) that employs over 8,000 globally, one third of which work outside France, signed an EWC following negotiations with a special negotiation group comprising five countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, and Romania).
