Finland: strike at the paper maker Stora Enso despite restructuring agreement

The management of the paper maker Stora Enso managed, on January 17, 2007, to sign an agreement with Finnish unions on the social consequences of the restructuring which concerns Finnish undertakings. However, the 12.000 Finnish employees keep striking against some aspects of the restructuring plan. (Ref. 080050)

Almost 2.500 people demonstrated in Helsinki on January 17, 2008, against the restructuring in the paper maker Stora Enso (12.000 employees in Finland); the group’s employees are starting a strike today Monday after the shutdown of two production sites and the confirmation that 985 employees had left.
