The merger between several unions in the industry sector of the SAK confederation was launched in 2005. The creation of the new union, to be called TEAM, will start on May 10, during the congress of media unions which will then start joining the new structure. The merger will follow the different congresses. However, the crisis might slow the process down, since unions are involved in several negotiations with employers. (Ref. 090508)
Originally, the merger concerned the following trade unions: the chemistry workers’ union (47,600 members); the electricity workers’ union (32,300); the media union (24,200); the metalworkers’ union (165,500); the railroaders’ union (14,500); and the wood workers’ union (45,600).
