Automobile giant Ford is offering its European employees the opportunity to find someone to share their job with – either internally or externally – by using a web-based matchmaking tool. The system, which was rolled out in Europe in September following a trial in the US, applies to all jobs except for production roles paid on an hourly basis.
The JobShare Connect tool allows Ford’s European employees interested in job sharing to create a profile and identify or attract other employees who want to share a job contract and relevant pay packet. Once a potential partner is found, the web-based tool puts the two parties in contact with one another so they can strike a job-sharing agreement, which must of course be validated by the line managers concerned.
