On March 19, the Court of Appeal of Versailles issued a decree stating that a works council consulted about a planned transfer has the right to request, with an injunction, that documents be translated into French. Even though this case was particular, it is still the first ruling concerning the provision of documents in English to an employee representation structure.
In this case, Wolters Kluwer France (WKF) consulted its works council about a plan to transfer an activity. The elected members refused to issue an opinion, claiming that they didn’t receive enough information, as the company sent some documents in English or only partially translated.
