On 1 January, the gross minimum wage will rise by 1.13%, from €1,747 to €1,767 per month. This increase, validated by the Council of Ministers on 20 December, is the automatic result of a calculation that takes into account changes in the consumer price index, without any “boost” from the government. Since the end of 2020, the wage level (Smic) has risen by almost 15% due to high inflation.
