The “Bill aiming to give prospects to the real economy and industrial employment” was permanently adopted by the National Assembly on February 24. It provides that businesses, or group of businesses, with 1,000 workers or more contemplating the closure of an undertaking, which would lead to mass layoffs, are under the obligation to look for a buyer and inform the works council. It also improves the WC’s prerogatives in the event of a call for tender.
For reasons of readability, the MPs abolished the provisions concerning this obligation contained in the labor market reform (see article No. 130319), which were supposed to be completed by the “Bill to recover prospects for the real economic and industrial employment,” presented in May 2013 (see article No. 130292). The law adopted yesterday contains all the elements making up the new section of the Labor Code on the “obligation to look for a buyer when closing a site.”
