After the EWC meeting on March 11, 2008, the members adopted a negative opinion on the merger between GDF and Suez. The document, rounded up on March 12, presents economic arguments against this project and highlights the management's commitments in terms of social guaranties and of the mechanism of the European representation body. In a short press release of March 12, 2008, EWC members explained that, “after two years of fierce battle on necessary information and social guaranties for the personnel, the EWC issued a reasoned negative opinion on the merger between Suez and GDF, with 27 votes against and two abstentions”.
