After a dispute characterized by major warning strikes, the Verdi services union and associations of private and public banks agreed, on Monday, June 30, on a 4.5-percent wage increase divided in two. Signed for 24 months, the agreement covers about 210,000 employees. The key bone of contention during the negotiations - the extension of work on Saturday - didn’t go through.

The Verdi union and the public and private banking employers’ bargaining group eventually reached, at a 3rd bargaining round, a collective agreement on pay, which provides for a 4.5-percent wage increase divided in 2. The first increase – 2.4 percent – came into force on July 1, 2014. The second – 2.1 percent – will arrive on July 1, 2015.
