According to the independent academic Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI) within the Hans-Böckler-Foundation, sector collective agreement workers’ pay rises this year have outstripped inflation. Workers are seeing their real incomes go up by about 2%. Collective agreements signed in 2016 include salary rises of between 1.5 % and 3% with a significant number of agreements securing rises of 2.5%. Unlike 2015, this year hasn’t experienced any major social disputes.
Wage rises of 2.5% on average. From amongst the major collective agreements concluded in 2016, the WSI first cites public sector and metals sector collective agreements. The Verdi union, on behalf of federal and territorial public services employees, secured a 2.4% wage rise in March 2016, and then 2.35% from February 2017.
