The German subsidiary of the American internet giant, Amazon, is about to witness its first strike in Germany. On Thursday, April 4, 97% of union members at Amazon’s logistics center in Leipzig (Saxony) voted a strike which should start any day. Meanwhile, on April 8, the Verdi services union announced that negotiations on Amazon’s largest site (Bad Hersfeld, Hessen) had failed and that it was going to consult its members about a strike. The union wants the company to sign a collective agreement with the key provisions of the regional collective agreements in force in retail trade. (Ref. 130235)
