The CJEC has condemned, on 23 February 2006, Austria and Germany because they have not transposed the directive creating a general framework for equal treatment in the employment field. (Ref. 06178)
The two States have just been sanctioned, after the European Commission submitted their case to CJEC. The directive 2000/78/CE aims at setting a general framework to fight against discrimination on the grounds religion, handicap, age and sexual orientation at work. The final aim is to obtain equal treatment throughout the EU.
