Germany: apprenticeship contracts crossed the symbolic 600.000 threshold in 2007

Annette Schavan, Federal Minister for Education and Research, presented, on April 2, 2008, the annual report for 2008 on apprenticeship which reflects the good health of the German economy, while pointing to a lingering deficit between supply and demand of about 200.000 posts. Financial incentives should reduce the number of people who have been seeking for more than a year. (Ref. 080271)

“With 625.900 apprenticeship contracts signed by September 30, 2007, this is the first time since 2001 we crossed the threshold of 600.000 again” said Mrs. Schavan when presenting the “2008 report on apprenticeship” (Berufsbildungsbericht 2008) to the Council of Ministers.
