Scandals of rotten meat delivered or Bribery at Siemens pushed the Grand Coalition to strengthen the protection offered to employees who denounce illegal practices in their company. At the end of 2007, the Federal Council of Ministers ratified the amendment of a provision of the Labor Code. MPs are about to vote the law before the summer break. (Ref. 080416)
The protection of employees who tell public
authorities about their company’s illegal practices without telling the company
itself first, is about to be largely strengthened in Germany, somehow like the British or American
laws which protect ‘whistleblowers’. This initiative was mainly started by Horst
