Faithful to their reputation as pioneer social partners, the IG BCE chemistry union and the BAVC chemistry employers' federation presented, during a joint congress held on October 9-10 in Berlin, the details of a "historic" tariff agreement entitled "working life and demography", which they concluded on April 16 (see our dispatch No. 080311). According to the IG BCE, chemistry is the first branch in the country to sign an agreement preparing companies for the demographic change. (Ref. 080782)
In the presence of the German Employment Minister, Olaf Scholz (SPD), the chemistry social partners reminded the stakes of this challenge: “We are going to live increasingly old” and “there will be less and less of us”.
