Collective bargaining talks in Germany’s chemical and pharmaceutical industries are due to open this week, covering nearly 580,000 employees across around 1,700 companies. With the sector facing headwinds from high energy costs and weakening demand, the IG BCE union is pressing for pay rises alongside job security, while employers have signalled resistance, calling instead for a "wage freeze".
