The company pensions reform that was announced in November 2016 (c.f. article No. 9939) should receive a large majority in the Bundestag vote on 01 June. Presented as a wide-ranging program to combat elderly poverty, the reform will facilitate access to company pensions for many SME employees and workers on low salaries. In order to facilitate the creation of company pensions without creating additional red tape it is intended that the social partners will have more freedom to manage company pension returns and sustainability via the medium of company negotiated agreements.
