The Der Spiegel magazine just revealed that, in 2005-06, Deutsche Telekom recorded the telephone numbers of the professional and private calls made by several of its managers, as well as staff representatives from the surveillance council. The company admitted some of the facts and promised to shed light on the whole question. (Ref. 080428)
“If these accusations are true, this is an
enormous scandal” said Lothar Schröder, member of the management of the Verdi
union and VP if Deutsche Telekom’s surveillance council, who is concerned about
the impact that such a scandal could have on trade and jobs at DT. Even no name
has been divulged yet, Mr. Schröder is probably included in the people whose
communications were tapped and analyzed by an outside company commissioned by
