In North Rhine Westfalia (NRW), the employers’ organisation proposed a 1.2% wage increase for the 700.000 workers concerned, retrospectively from March 1st, 2006 to February 28, 2007 and another 1.2% from March 1st, 2007 to February 28, 2007. For the first time since the wage negotiations have been launched at the beginning of February in the metallurgical and electronics industries, the employers proposed a concrete counter offer on April 6, 2006. They propose a 1.2% wage increase per year, with a lump which is likely to fall down according to the company situation. As for IG-Metall, the trade-union, who demands a 5% increase, it threatens to organise a general strike. (Ref. 06336)
