Germany: Franz Müntefering refused to hire 2,000 civil servants from the telephone company Deutsche Telekom

Deutsche Telekom (DT,) which is trying, by any means, to decrease its workforce, just went through a disappointment. According to the daily newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung , Franz Müntefering, Federal Minister of Employment and Social Affairs, would have refused to give an open ended contract to 2,000 of DT's civil servants, who had already been working for the Federal Employment Agency (BA) for two years. When questioned by eeuropnews, a spokesperson from the employment ministry indirectly confirmed the newspaper's information. (Ref. 070163)
