The IG Metall Küste (Küste = sea coast) signed, on October 7, 2008, a cooperation agreement with its Danish counterpart, Dansk Metal. The objective is to place workers - both active and unemployed - belonging to the two unions, on either side of the border. The project will operate for a year and then be evaluated. (Ref. 080786)
A cross-border placement service managed by two national unions is a new experience, both in Germany and in Denmark. “German people have been going to work in Denmark for a long time. There are no major language issues or mentality problems. Besides, Danish unemployment rate is extremely low and our sector needs skilled workers.
