By organizing such an impressing assembly the IG-Metall union intends to send “warning signal to all those wishing to abolish the Volkswagen law”. “The repeated attacks by  the European Union, by a big shareholder in VW  Porsche, and also by the Land of Bade-Wurttemberg, have only one objective: restrict workers’ rights and the mechanisms of effective protection against lay-offs and outsourcing contained in the VW law”, alerts an IG-Metall announcement.
