Germany: not all employees are on the same boat as regards holiday bonuses

Extremely different holiday bonuses.  As an introduction, the WSI indicates that a great majority of German employees receive a holiday bonus, but that they are only entitled to it if it was expressly provided for in the collective agreement concerned.  Thus, collective agreements signed in the steel industry and civil service do not provide for a special bonus but an annual single bonus including the Christmas and holiday bonuses.  According to the WSI, which analyzed the collective agreements signed in 22 sectors, holiday bonuses are extremely varied, not only by sector but also by geographical location (east/west).
