Germany : on an unemployment background, the passing of the so-called law of «adaptation» of the Hartz IV reform reopens the debate about the employment policy
Review of the papers from May 29th to June 4th 2004. The German press widely goes back over the debate for or against Hartz IV, which opposed yesterday the conservatives to the socio-democrats on the passing of the "Hartz IV – Fortentwicklungsgesetz". This law comes to reinforce controllings, penatlies and the conditions to obtain the Aribeitslosengeld II (ALG II), the new allowance steming from the combining of the social welfare and the long-term unemployment allowance. As for the unemployment's fall, it is widely welcomed even though some think of it as long-term change and others do not. (Ref. 06558)
