After long discussions, the German Council of Ministers (Bundeskabinett) finally decided to extend the law on "posted workers" to postal services. Gradually, this amendment should make mandatory to the entire sector the agreement signed between the Ver.di union and the employers organization Arbeitgeberverband Postdienste (AGV), which established a minimum wage. The Bundeskabinett finally unanimously adopted the amendment presented by Franz Müntefering (SPD), Minister of Employment and Social Affairs and modified by Michael Glos (CSU), Minister of Economy, which aims at extending the law on posted workers (Entsedegesetz), not to the postal services (Postdienstleiter) in general but to “mail distribution services” (Briefdienstleister).
