After a seminar at Genshagen on January 9and 10 2006, the German government had decided to help families create jobs by providing tax deductions. The draft law thus plans to allow parents of children aged 7 to 14 to deduct their child-care fees (due to professional reasons) up to 4000 euros per year. For children under 7 years old, parents could also deduct the same amount, but only if it is over 1000 euros. The cost for the state’s budget is estimated at 460 million euros.
