Germany’s largest public health insurer, AOK, has reported a new record for workplace absenteeism in its 2025 report. The fund, which covers 27 million members, recorded 228 cases of illness per 100 employees in 2024, up from 225 the previous year. On average, each worker took sick leave 2.3 times over the year. By way of comparison, the average for the years 2014 to 2021 was 160 cases per 100 people. Nationally, the absenteeism rate in 2024 reached 6.5%, or 24 days of absence per year....
