There are no official statistics on the precise number and economic impact of illegal work in Germany. Only experts’ assessments can measure the scope of the underground economy and to give orders of magnitude. Specialized in this area, Friedrich Schneider evaluated that the parallel economy represents €349 billion (wages and costs of materials used), i.e. almost 15% of the Germany GDP.
