The IG-Metall qualified the first figured offer presented by employers yesterday, October 30, 2008, of "provocation". While the IG-Metall is asking for an 8% wage increase for the 3.6 million employees of the sector, the Gesammtmetall, its employers' interlocutor, offers a 2.1% increase starting on January 1, 2009, with a single 0.8% bonus for November and December 2008. The third negotiation round for the Bade-Württemberg’s employers’ and union federations, which usually plays a pilot role in sectoral collective bargaining, ended unsuccessfully. For its first figured offer since negotiations opened, the Gesammtmetall presented a 2.1% wage increase starting on January 1, 2009 and for 14 months and a single 0.8% bonus for November and December 2008 (around €350).
